The voice had Bradley straightening to his full height from where he’d been hunched over, turning to see a smirking technician, wielding a large plastic toolbox with ease in his strong hands. The man caught his eye, gesturing to the mess in front of them. “At least, in my experience. This thing jam on you?” The tone was affable and calm, setting Bradley’s teeth instantly on edge. Obviously it was jammed. What moron couldn’t see that?

Summary
Suguru was looking at Satoru, brows furrowed and so intensely vulnerable, and all he saw was the seventeen-year-old boy who hung himself to escape the hurt, believing himself to be nothing more than a burden. The one who taught him to imbue meaning into existence, to make it a life, to feel so deeply it was a miracle his heart hadn’t burst from the fervor of it all. The one who slipped from his fingers faster than he could desperately grasp for any remnants.
But maybe it was okay, because now, Suguru was right in front of him, looking at Satoru with something he’d never seen before, not even as teenagers. And he wanted to be selfish.

“We talked about this.” Satoru whined, fiddling with the hem of Suguru’s shirt. “I won’t scold you about your work if you don’t comment on mine. That’s one way this can work… If we can ignore what each other stands for, we can stay together.” Satoru sighed, silently loathing the distance their words had come to.
“Satoru… I can’t stay ignorant forever.” Suguru breathed, looking up at Satoru through his dark eyes. His expression held a deep longing, the face he had every time Satoru and him discussed their reality. Things were great when it felt like it was just the two of them in existence, but unfortunately that wasn’t how things worked. Suguru’s eyes still held the same hunger, but sadness still lurked inside as well. “I don’t think you can either.”
