    Summary

"Eddie’s got his radio pressed to his mouth, jaw clenched so tight it aches. Dust coats his gear, his skin, his eyelashes, but he doesn’t care. He doesn’t blink, doesn’t move an inch. He doesn’t breathe—except to call out for Buck again and again.

“Buck,” he rasps into the radio, button pressed so hard that it physically hurts. “Buck, do you copy?”

Static hisses in his ear, a cruel kind of silence."

Or, Buck gets hurt and Eddie lets slip the secret he never thought he'd tell.

    Summary

The first thing Buck noticed about the apartment was: it was new. Like really, really new.

New floors, new paint, new appliances still humming like they were straight out of the box. The stale air was thick with the chemical scent of paint and plastic, on top of a coldness that seemed to have nothing to do with the weather.

The second thing was: it was too clean. It smelled like that weird fake-lemon cleaner landlords love but dialled up to eleven. The kind of intensity that you only get when something bad happened and someone’s trying to cover it up.

    And the third thing?

    It was fucking haunted.

Smut AU where S1!Buck got haunted by a hot Ghost!Eddie and instead of running away, he said, bet.

    Summary

Whoever told Buck that excessively talking and narrating things to his baby would aid in her cognitive development is a bitch.

“I have to go to work today, so you’re gonna hang out with your Auntie Maddie because she has the day off, and then tomorrow morning after my shift you and I are gonna get breakfast with Eddie, so I’m packing your pink dress with the blue flowers because I think it’s very breakfasty. That’s not a word, though. Sometimes it’s okay to make up words for emphasis, but not all the time, okay?”

Evie thinks her dad is the most fascinating thing in the world and he would like to keep it that way, thank you very much. She stares and smiles at him while he talks, reacts to certain words like she’s starting to understand what they mean, claps her hands together when he says the names of her favorite people, it’s awesome.

However, Buck seems to have made one very grave mistake and in her very first act of spite against her dad, Evie will not let him live it down.

    "Eddie!"

Or, narrating his entire life to his daughter started as a good idea until she decided to use her first word to out Buck’s big dumb crush on his best friend.

    Summary

“Did you ever go to Hershey?”

“What?” Eddie asked, thrown. “Why would I go to Hershey without you?” he asked, picking up a dish towel and drying off the plates in in the drying rack.

“When you were younger, I mean,” Buck clarified. “For your ballroom dancing.”

“I think I would—” Eddie paused on his way to grab a new plate, thinking. He met Buck’s face with an equally confused expression and said, “actually, now that you’re saying it . . . yeah.” He looked surprised by his own answer. “Yeah, Tara and I went our junior year. Damn, I can’t believe I forgot about that.”

    “I think we met.”

    ----

In 2008, an unlikely interaction occurred; in 2025, Buck remembers.
