Summary
Everything changed after the Rider War. The Varden installed Queen Nasuada as ruler of the Broddring Empire, alliances with Ellesméra and Tronjheim were reopened, and the allies of King Galbatorix were imprisoned, executed, or driven into exile. Nasuada's administration claims to have restored peace to Alagaësia, but chaos and upheaval still bubble beneath the surface, ready to slip free at the slightest easing of the Queen's iron grip.
Still, the presence of the Dragon Riders lingers over all would-be rebels. Eragon Shadeslayer has not been seen for four years, but all know that he is bound by an oath of fealty to serve Queen Nasuada should she call for his aid.
