The civil war was finally his for the winning, General Tullius thought somewhat smugly to himself, holding a sword to his defeated enemy’s throat after a clever last-minute ambush. Now, there was one hurdle left to conquer, which was an execution the Thalmor weren’t going to try and intercept again. They riddled the holds of Skyrim like rats, but what about Solstheim? Mostly desolate, only one way off, and even an old abandoned fort with his crew’s name on it.
He grinned at the brilliant idea as Ulfric Stormcloak and his lieutenants were loaded into prisoner’s carts yet again.However, it started to feel like less of a good idea when he dragged himself from the sea onto the island’s northern coast, freezing his arse off with a Dragon hot on his tail. But worst of all, with his enemy mere metres away laughing smugly and spurting insults like “only a weak Imperial would get something as girly as frostbite from the freezing north ocean."

This time, when he comes to, Curly finds himself back on the lounge-room couch. The coarse fabric feels the same as it did under his fingers before everything happened, and the plush is just as lumpy.
He looks up, expecting to see the familiar nighttime screen. The dead pixel to jump out at him, after spending so long being unnoticed. When his eyes register what he’s seeing, however, Curly lets out a yell.
It’s… black. Not as in black the way a night sky is, freckled with the small white stars and an opaline moon.
Off. malfunctioning. Dead.
Twenty years later, the air supply in the cryopod finally runs out. Curly had expected this. Awaited it, even. What he didn't expect, was to find himself back infront of the nightime screen with one of the main subjects of his guilt.

July's prompt challenge, the prompt being "The sound of a blade being sharpened." So thanks for that one Thanatopsiturvy, this thing happened.
I've been playing around with the concept of "how exactly did the Nerevarine's corprus get cured" for a while now (I do not buy that simple potion shite) and used this as an opportunity to explore how that might work. Oh, I also spawned a multi-chapter Morrowind fic from this. Whoops.
Turned into a lot of Morrowind-style dreams. Fair warning, this is strongly on the horror side.
