The thing about there being multiple timelines is that, in theory, anything can happen. From your head being turned into the head of a fish... To your friends becoming obsessed with you and praising you like a deity, making them do things they wouldn't really do otherwise.
And if Takumi was the only one that remembered such timeline, there wouldn't be much of an issue. The problem is that he is not the only one that remembers.
