    Henry gave a quiet laugh from behind him.
    Jack didn’t even bother looking back.

    “I just…” He paused, searching for words that didn’t sound nearly as sentimental as the thought itself. “I don’t want the person who gave me something to look forward to suddenly become someone I used to know.”
    That realization seemed to hit Jack the moment he heard himself say it. He immediately looked away.

    “###,” he muttered, rubbing the back of his neck. “That sounded sentimental again.”
