“Harvey? It’s the middle of the night. What are you doing here?”
She’s dressed down, comfortable, in slacks and a warm sweater; a far cry from a silk nightie, but it manages to be even more captivating.
Goddamn, she looks like the woman a man is supposed to come home to.“I had to see you,” he chokes out, even though he shouldn’t. Even though they’d discussed the impropriety of him doing this very thing not long ago, “I know you said I couldn't do this anymore, but I need to talk to you.”
She isn’t turning him away, but those eyebrows of hers have drawn together and a frown drags the corners of her lips.
“Talk about what?”About you. About me. About all the things we’re out of time to make right.
“About what I have to do.”
