Summary
While investigating the disappearance of their classmates deep in the woods, four friends are ambushed by monsters. Spirits calling themselves Guardians arrive to aid them, but their help comes at a cost. Those that bond with a spirit are provided with access to potent magic in exchange for accepting the mission to find and destroy the source of the supernatural threat. Unfortunately, the spirit-bonds come with unforeseen consequences for Lucas, and he attempts to remove his bond with disastrous results. In the wake of this catastrophe, Laura awakens with two sets of memories, neither of which are her own.
Laura's Tale is a fan Thread novel which takes place in an alternate universe featured in the game "Thread: A Tale of Identity, Monsters, and College" which is available for free on itch.io:

Summary
Last Valentine's Day, Jacob got ahold of a hand mirror with very peculiar properties. Its magical power allowed him to transform into a perfect copy of his beautiful girlfriend, Anna. He's been making regular use of it ever since.
Of course, he loves Anna and would never do anything to hurt her, but he doesn't need to tell her or his roommate his dirty secret. However a secret is a fragile thing, and who knows what would happen if the truth of his actions came out?
More so, would he ever be able to pick up the pieces of his reality in the aftermath of it?
