A tracking spell goes completely wrong in Defence Against the Dark Arts, and somehow Harry ends up in another universe, eerily similar to his own except with one stark difference: he can, for some reason, smell everyone. And strongly.
He might have been able to handle it, if his partner in the class hadn’t been affected by the spell as well, and ended up right there with him.
He probably would have been able to. Except that his partner, of course, had to be Draco bloody Malfoy.
And he smells fantastic.

Lance’s back presses against the stone railing--Keith had been silently pushing against his space the entire time. Lance hadn’t even realized they were moving. “You know I saved your ass.”
“You made it so much worse.” A wild exaggeration, Lance rolls his eyes. Sighing, Keith cards a hand through his hair, his gaze a little less hostile now but still biting. “I don’t even know why I asked for your help.”
With Keith all up in his personal space, it’s not that hard for his brain to go to mush as he focuses on the pretty flecks of violet in Keith’s dark eyes. And then on his lips. Lance lazily smiles, just staring at him. “Please, you wanna kiss me so bad right now it makes you look stupid.”
(or, loosely, the five times Keith gets them into a sticky situation and the one time it’s Lance’s fault)

“Shit,” Lance breathes. “This is so freaky.”
Keith can hear the laugh in his voice, trying to wrap his mind around how he could possibly find humor in a moment like this. His muscles are taut with anxiety, and Lance still manages to crack a joke.
“Right?” the other Lance agrees. “Two of us, ha.”
“Enough,” Keith finally cuts in. “There’s about to be only one of you if you don’t start talking soon.”
“Jeez, you’re intense,” the other Lance says to his Keith, eyes crinkling softly at the corners. “Would hate to get on your bad side.”

Keith sighed softly and closed his eyes, resting his face in Lance’s hair so he could whisper back. “This isn’t fair. You know I don’t know what you’re asking.”
Lance, the asshole, just laughed softly and pressed his body closer. “¿Tú también me amas?”
Keith didn’t care. He didn’t care that he couldn’t understand. With Lance acting like this, pressing against him like this, talking like this- Keith would give him anything, it didn’t matter what he was asking.
Softly, so softly, he whispered back. “Yes.”
