Perhaps Aegon deserves the abuse his mother inflicts upon him.
But Aemond doesn’t.
Aegon knows what’s coming. He’s long past trying to fight it. Not only because he knows he deserves it, but also because he longs for it. He can’t remember when he began craving it, the abuse, the pain, the violence, but he does. It’s the reason he stands up on shaking legs and does as he’s told. Aemond doesn’t care for a show, so Aegon lets himself be as graceless as he feels. Aemond deserves a better mother. Aegon would protect Aemond better. He would protect his little brother enough for the both of them, he would take the pain of it like a good mother should.

Summary
He was waiting in the dark as Aegon stumbled blindly into his rooms, two steps, just enough to grab the wine pitcher from the table and he was falling to his knees retching into it. Aemond left him to his burdensome task, to his pathetic trembling and gaging while he lit a candle with one of the torches outside and closed the door. He preferred to see what was to come and he would like no one else to bear witness to it.
