Summary
Fragile teenager Marinette Dupain-Cheng makes a promise to herself to not be so fragile anymore to make her best friend and older sister-figure Socqueline Wang proud after the latter graduates to high school. But that is easier said than done. For years, Marinette has been bullied by Paris's resident Chloe Bourgeois, the "the precious mayor's" daughter, and as a result, Marinette barely has any friends, and she does not pity anyone whole claimed to have a "crush" on her. If they did, why didn't they at least help her in private?!
Things soon change this school year, where Marinette meets the son of one of her favorite fashion designers, Gabriel Agreste's son, Adrien, who becomes one of her new best friends. Not long after that, Marinette finds herself being gifted earrings from a mysterious old man, becomes a superheroine named Ladybug and a partner named Chat Noir.
