Summary
“Well, okay,” Emma concedes, “not this exactly. It was always onstage. And it always followed the script.” She frowns a little at that. “I guess They’re shaking things up a little this time.”
“Onstage?” Paul echoes, his voice small. He suddenly feels very, very uneasy, the kind of mind-numbing fear only a smiling, expectant audience can cause when the spotlight shines on you alone. “Are you saying this is a show?”
“No, unfortunately. It’s worse than that.” Emma glares down the last alley. “I’m saying this is a musical.”

Paul is experiencing some fucking insane déjà-vu, and it is seriously freaking him out. How does he know what people are going to say before they say it? Why does it feel like… all of this has happened before?
Emma has been doing this for the last six years, her body puppeteered along with countless others to reenact the end of the world for the amusement of vile gods. But she never once thought They would bring everything back here.
But hey! At least they have each other, right?
