Summary
Kids like lancer are meant to cry over spilled milk and scraped knees, not… this. No child Lancer's age should carry something so profoundly sad. Lancer should have both his parents, a family of castle-dwellers who care for him, a place to learn and play. At the very least, someone should be around to keep him safe. This isn't the way things were supposed to end up. Lancer is being failed at every turn, and Rouxls is struck with how complicit he’s been in the whole thing.

January is turning out to be cold, damp, and disastrously uncomfortable. Not only is the palace a complete slog of semantics and mind games, but there's a constant strange note in the atmosphere outside that grates on Akechi's nerves. It's like a persistent chemical smell in the air, the way things aren't quite right. Everyone else smiles blithely through the new year, while instead the phantom thieves bear the weight of knowing they have to take it all away, that this bubble is going to pop. The snow soaks through Akechi's clothes day after day as he walks past happy commuters in Shibuya to catch his train.
So, it's rather jarring when one day, Akechi finds a kid lost in the subway, crying to themselves. Normally he'd walk right past, just like everybody else in the station, but then he catches a glimpse of long red hair...****

One corner of Rouxls’s mouth lifts for just a second. “Jevil, thou must solveth it with the box. Thou can’st not be the box.”
“I can-!”
“--yes, yes, of course, do anything, we know.” Rouxls pinches the bridge of his nose, the not-smile falling away instantly.
Jevil snickers, utterly pleased, bouncing a couple times anyway. Lancer picks himself up off the button and merrily plops back down just to hear the victory chime again and again-- two, three, four times, while Jevil echoes the chime in between, the both of them laughing away.

Summary
Five times Taako manages to get a hug from one of his friends without having to actually admit that he wants a hug, and one time he flat out cops to it.
1. Taako hates being cold and wet. He's both, thanks to an inconvenient river. Magnus is a human furnace, and thus it begins.
2. Waking up feeling inexplicably lonely, Taako tries to goad Magnus into bickering with him in a bid for some company. He gets the company, at least.
3. Angus is almost hit by a rogue cart, Taako deals with being idolized and trusted by a kid he doesn't think he deserves the faith of.
4. During a fight, Taako almost dies, and Merle gets to practice his healing skills.
5. Magnus has a nightmare, Merle nearly loses Magnus after a fight, and Taako finds himself on the other side of things.
+ 1. Merle casts Zone of Truth, Magnus is a good friend, and Taako makes a confession.- Language:
