This house… the memories flooded back, hours and hours spent making it livable, accessible, comfortable enough so that its inhabitants could hope to heal. Steve let the salt air fill his lungs, ran his hands along the wood grain of the ship’s rails. Porters ran back and forth, talking and laughing as they filled the hull with cargo. Around them, his crew checked over the ship and prepared to sail. Gulls cried their greetings as they soared on the fair winds.
It should have been a good morning, but last night’s rest left him uneasy.When Steve, a formal naval captain, takes a contract that requires him to sail through the Strait of Sorrows, he finds something he lost long ago.
