The confident, cocky and popular blond who seemed to be considered perfection in front of everyone’s eyes was now sitting on her bed for the second time since they became ‘friends’, gazing at her with that look on his face.

Then, all of a sudden, a piercing white light exploded around her, so bright that it could’ve burned off her eyes, but the sting wasn’t there. Well, she felt a sting in her stomach—it was mostly fear. The girl didn’t look away. She didn’t know why she didn’t, though.
It faded just as quickly, her surroundings dissolving into a pale, frazy haze—heavy and cold, like the moment was alive at all. The air felt thin, her breathing shallow. Hailey didn’t know what made her take a step forward at all. She could’ve sworn something afar was whispering her name.

Hailey feels her blush deepening at the gesture. She takes in a breath and stays still, her skin tingling with each light brush his fingers make against her face. Jake tucks a lock of her hair behind her ear, and his gaze meets back to her eyes again. He gives a soft smile.
“See you tomorrow, princess. Meet me in the pouring rain.”
