“So is Y/N your girlfriend?” Enoch asked disinterest seeping into his voice.

Abe choked on his food, and you would've laughed if it wasn’t for the fact that his question made you sputter into your drink. You recovered first. “No, Abe and I are simply good friends.” You tried not to laugh, really tried, and you think you succeeded.

“Do you have any kind of significant other?” Millard asked, and you weren’t sure who it was directed at. Until Abe looked at you expectantly, giving you an amused smile. He caught someone else’s eyes and suddenly was intently eating food.

“Not currently.” And you glanced at Miss Peregrine you knew she had glared at Abe. He wouldn’t have looked like a child being fussed at, unless it was her.

“Are you going to tell people that we’re not dating?”

You paused, “It would make my life a lot easier considering even Liz thinks we’re dating.” But you’ve obviously got some type of angle with this and I’m trying to figure out what it is. “The real question is why do you want people to think we are?”

She skipped the denial and without missing a beat said, “Good publicity. It looks very good to be dating a member of my competitor’s family. You’re the only viable option, as you said you don’t really have an opinion of me."

    Summary

There was a sudden scraping sound against the wall, and you turned to see the broom slide and hit the shelf. Knocking one potion off the shelf.

"Y/N." There was a warning to her voice, and panic that sent your heart pounding. You glanced up at Angie. A purple mist rose from the broken glass, swirling around you so that the last thing you saw was your wife lunging for your arm. And then you were engulfed.

The smoke dissipated a few seconds later and you found yourself standing in a field.

You turned around full circle; you were standing in a field. Anxiously you walked around and finally you stopped. Panic rising. You stopped to stand where your bedroom would’ve been. Should be. From that place you could see Collinsport. Panic rose, you felt nauseous. Because there sat Collinsport, smoke from chimneys and log cabins and boats that looked like they were from textbooks, and it looked how Barnabas had always described Collinsport centuries ago.

    Bookmarker's Notes

    22/?
I can't express just how much I enjoy this, but that won't stop me trying. First off, I'm always a bit iffy about a poly type relationship with these three, but it's handled so beautifully in this. The development is realistic and feels natural, each arc that's been written to this point has felt like a true love letter to the character it's been focused on. The story's pov character also matures through out, which is not only spoken about in universe but shown quite well through the narration and thought process.
Beyond the (well crafted) relationship dynamics, the storyline and suspense are very well done. The mystery of the first arc keeps you hooked, and the secound arc somehow manages to increase that sense of tension despite the lose of the mystery. The pacing is also exceptional, for a work of this length it's extremely difficult to avoid dragging or dead moments, but the author manages it extremely well.
Finally, I just really enjoy medieval and fantasy worlds, so for me this is an absolute home run in every metric. The re-read potential is through the fucking roof. Easily makes it onto my all time favourites list.
