When a random act of violence lands Buck face-to-face with Fate, he takes the opportunity with both hands and a smile. He could hardly guess what would spiral out from one small change.

Written for the Midnight Musings Exchange Event

    Prompt:
"Please do not call him uncle right now"

    XXXXX

Not expecting the sight before him, the sea god froze, anger rapidly replacing the immediate shock that flashed over his features.

Both halves of the couple shouted in alarm and Percy, legs still weak and not ready to stand, pulled the blanket tighter around them so that they would be, at the very least, less exposed.

"Uncle!" Apollo squeaked, shrinking under the sea god's murderous stare. "What might we be able to help you with?"

"Do not call him uncle while you are inside me." Percy ground out.

    Summary

    No one saw it coming.

One moment, Manhattan was Manhattan—horns blaring, crowds rushing, coffee cups in trembling hands. The next, the sky cracked. And everyone could see.

News cameras caught it. Phones streamed it. People screamed and ran, but there was nowhere to run—not from monsters that could smell fear, or from gods who didn't seem to care.

The Mist, that ancient enchantment that shielded mortals from the divine, was gone.

And the world went to war. Hope collapsed. And from the ruins, prayers began.

They prayed to the only face they had seen standing between humanity and the darkness. Old grainy footage of a boy fighting to protect others.

    They called him Perseus.
