Summary

An AU where the games never happened. Nam-gyu and Su-bong have been best friends since childhood (five years old, to be exact). To get his parents off his back, Su-bong tells Nam-gyu to pretend to be his boyfriend so they don't pester him again. Nam-gyu goes along with it. He knows he's going to regret it. He knows he'll always be what Su-bong needs him to be. But things take a dark turn when everything implodes.

Niragi sighed as he watched his phone ring and ring and ring. He figured if he let it go to voicemail on its own time, he could pretend that he was away from his phone and didn’t notice the call coming in.
“Why are you ignoring your mother?” Chishiya asked. Of course that bastard had noticed.
“I’m not ignoring her,” he pouted. With the way Chishiya was lounging against his chest he couldn’t see his face, but he just knew one of his eyebrows had quirked up in his patented look of disbelief. He sighed. There was no hiding anything from him. “It’s my dad’s birthday next week and she’s probably calling to ask if I’m coming to family dinner.”
“Are you?”
“Not if I can avoid it,” Niragi grumbled. “It’ll be a bunch of bullshit about how I’m unmarried in my thirties and it’s all my fault. They’ll list out all the fucked-up decisions I’ve made in my life that have ruined all my chances of being happy and successful or whatever and I really don’t need to hear that shit.”
The phone rang again.
He was ready to throw the stupid thing across the room but Chishiya was faster. He plucked the phone out of Niragi’s hands and accepted the call in one smooth motion.
