She moves her mouth to Jingliu’s ear. “Show me,” she whispers. “Show me how you'll kill an Aeon.”
“Say I'm the star you wish to cut.” She places Jingliu’s hand on her neck. It's searing hot.
“What are you going to do?”
Or, Ruan Mei is on an unerring path to becoming the Aeon of Life, and Jingliu is hot on her heels.

She’s like a little kicked dog, looking up with the lightest of pouts and her breath held in silent question. Her eyebrows tilt up as if asking Navia for the world and Navia hates how her chest clenches at the simple recognition that this is the woman who killed her father.

They have been apart for years, so it was only natural that Navia no longer desires to touch her or smile at her the same way she did before.
But she notices. The way Navia had become more…clingy. Touchy.
