JJ didn't respond. He couldn't. His body had already decided to move. His feet took him toward the back of the bar, away from his friends, his eyes narrowed as he tracked the invisible trail of sugar and heat. It was like a physical tether pulling at his chest, a magnetic force that bypassed his brain and spoke directly to his blood.
He pushed through the crowd, ignoring the glares of other alphas, until he reached a semi-private booth in the corner. There, bathed in the dim red glow of a recessed light, sat a man.
JJ stopped dead.
The man was beautiful, but not in the way JJ expected. He wasn't small or fragile. He was built—thick muscles straining against the sleeves of a crisp white polo shirt, his shoulders broad enough to rival JJ’s own. His skin was a rich, sun-kissed honey, and his jawline was sharp enough to cut glass. He was nursing a glass of amber liquid, his eyes hooded, his expression one of bored elegance.
"Is he... an omega?" JJ whispered to himself, his heart hammering against his ribs.
