Summary
Jayce and his daughter, Amaranthine, are the newest residents on the block of a quiet suburb—hundreds of miles away from the pain that brought them here. But distance can't fix everything. They're struggling to keep themselves together, and everyone knows it.
Especially Viktor and Naph. The four of them meet under less than desirable circumstances, a mess of teeth and searing words that only children who haven't seen the world can forgive. When the kids move on, Jayce and Viktor are left in the aftermath: caught between their desire for love and a refusal to be hurt again. How do we move on from grief? How can we share it, so as to make it all hurt less?

Jayce hurried down the halls of the academy, praying and hoping Viktor would be where he left him. He swung the door open with a loud bang, disrupting Skye at her workstation.
“Vitya,” he breathed, “I think I fucked up.”
He laid eyes on the shorter man, hip propped up against a desk with a cup of coffee in hand and the morning’s paper in another.
“It would seem so, my love.” Viktor replied, not looking up from the newspaper, “I’m reading about it right now.”
“It’s already in the paper?” Jayce questioned frantically.
Aka Jayce and Viktor get married during the time skip between act 1 and 2 and nobody knows about it until they do.

"What have we here?"
"It's nothing, really, I just—"
The cover features a quaint illustration of two men standing in front of what appears to be a needlessly complex and completely nonsensical chemistry setup. They have their backs to the viewer. The taller man has his hand in the other's back pocket.
"Advanced Chemistry," Viktor mumbles, reading the title out as his fingertips dance lightly over the raised letters embossed into the flexible cover, "I didn't realize you read romance."
"I don't," Jayce argues, his tone and posture defensive, but as Viktor raises a skeptical brow in his partner's direction, he seems to realize the error in his words, "Well, not usually."
-or- Viktor catches Jayce reading a smutty romance novel, but there's more to this story than either of them realizes.
