Shu still hadn’t returned.
It had been months now. Months since the sorcerer-turned-farmer had packed his satchel with scrolls, runestones, and that slightly chipped compass he insisted was lucky. He’d kissed Luca on the cheek with a promise: just a short journey. A week. Maybe two. Just long enough to track down the century-blooming flower.
But weeks had blurred into months, and now, the wheat was taller. The sun dipped sooner. The wind bit just a little sharper. And still no Shu.

Summary
Maybe some people would feel embarrassed about eating dainty pink desserts in equally pink and frilly booths of pink-filled buildings with their inarguably unrequited love, but he’s already given up on hiding his feelings a long time ago, and with that brilliant decision went most of the embarrassment. If you have nothing to hide, then you have nothing to feel ashamed about.
At some point he realised they’ve spent more years together where he was in love with him than when he wasn’t, and nothing's really changed despite that, so there’s no real point in worrying about it. If Shu can’t tell by now, then he’s likely never going to find out on his own, so who cares if he likes him and doesn't try to hide it?
Best day of his life, honestly. It’s way easier now.

“Tommy broke up with me.”
Eddie swivels his head towards him instantly, so fast Buck’s worried for his neck. Wide eyes are glued to Buck’s face for several, shock-ridden seconds.
And then, Eddie looks down at his beer, frowning. “Should I put on pants for this conversation?” he mutters, wondering out loud. And then, as if reaching a conclusion, “I should put on pants for this conversation.”
buck is tired of failed relationships. eddie is tired of not being seen as an option.
