“Look,” James sighs. “I don’t want to fight with you.”
“Oh, is this fighting to you?” Regulus mocks, scoffing. “This is not fighting, Potter. If that’s what you want from me, you hardly need to ask.”
James clenches his jaw. Regulus has always been incredible at drawing him in, trying to get a rise out of him with a few sharp words. James can admit he's fallen susceptible to it plenty of times, but right now, he needs Regulus to listen. He needs something so that the younger boy might trust him. Something to prove both Sirius’ innocence and help him get through this. He might not know him—or like him for that matter—but he sure as hell doesn’t want him to see him dead.

Regulus Black's career ended exactly one year, five months, and twenty-one days ago.
“I don’t.” James shrugged. “I’m making an assumption here. I’m going to go out on a limb and assume that the best dancer to touch a stage wants to dance again.” He said this seriously, looking him dead in the eye. A ghost of a smile still played on his lips, as though he couldn’t quite tame it. “Am I right?”
This time, when Regulus didn’t say anything, James took it for what it was; confirmation. “Then that’s what we’ll do. Alright?” He said. “It’s not going to be easy. But you’re you, so I don’t think you care for ‘easy’ very much.”
Regulus paused, raising a brow at him. “Easy gets boring after a while.” He told him.
James huffed a laugh. “Yeah, alright.” He sighed. “I get the feeling that I’m going to like you.”
OR:
