Summary
A Professor Layton canon divergence alternate universe, where the events of Layton's childhood are significantly altered. Most if not all works will be posted in a non-linear order.
These works will contain major spoilers for the prequel trilogy of Professor Layton (Last Specter, Miracle Mask, Azran Legacy) and should be read after playing/watching those three games. The main trilogy will also have frequent spoilers included, but if you’re playing/watching the prequel trilogy I would assume you’ve already played/watched the main trilogy as well.

After the disappearance of Leon and Rachel Bronev, a gaggle of social workers were assigned to the Bronev household to ensure the two boys left behind were alive and well. Eventually an adoption was scheduled, and the boys were both taken in by Roland and Lucille Layton of Stansbury. Hershel would grow to be an archaeologist and detective of the Scotland Yard, and Theodore would find himself on a similarly archaeological path, albeit as a professor at Gressenheller. Summary
All day on the second day it had been raining. The waves were a bit more vicious, like a dog that had been riled up a bit too much and now its eager bite was starting to leave dents in the skin. The swell tossed the boat without much regard for its passengers. Hershel and Luke stayed in their cabin most of the day, passing the time with books and puzzles, save for when they had to duck out to get food. It was much gentler with the hull than it was with the passengers. Hershel could hear the animals beneath them complaining about their seasickness. He only hoped, for their sake and for his and Luke’s, that they’d be sedated again soon.

Hershel Layton is sent adrift after the sinking of the SS Constance aboard a lifeboat.

“Luke?” Cut in Professor Sycamore, and he realized that everyone else was sitting as he stood, looking around, “is something the matter?”
“Did the professor turn in for the night already?” Luke moved to sit down in a purple armchair, picking at his nails. He’d almost forgotten he’d been standing for a while, but it certainly felt nice to sit again, “I was hoping to speak with him about his day.”
When the other professor didn’t respond, Luke looked up to see the man looking a bit alarmed, “I had assumed he was with you? He hasn’t returned here.”
