Summary
“There you go, being quiet again.” Kaveh laughs. It sounds tragic. When Alhaitham doesn’t respond, Kaveh hums as if in thought. “How about I guess? I feel like after all this time… I should be pretty good at reading your mind.”
Alhaitham folds his arms over his chest. The only light is the dull green of their visions and the vague, white moonlight hidden behind the clouds. None of it is enough to see Kaveh in detail, but he can sense that Kaveh has turned and is standing close to him.
“You’re currently thinking this is stupid, and that I’m being ridiculous.”
“Miraculous. A prognostication worthy of an oracle.”
“Shut up. I’m more interested in what’s behind that, though. The things you said when I couldn’t hear you. It was about me, wasn’t it?”

Alhaitham sighs, wincing a little at how new it feels to spell out Kaveh’s significance in his life. It feels bare, open, and honest with him in a way he isn’t used to. Kaveh doesn’t speak for a bit but he breaks the silence this time.
“Why did we never address it? How much have we impacted each other?”
An expedition with friends that ends with Kaveh being left with an injury, a death experience, and a multitude of feelings to explore. One of the more obvious ones being his feelings for Alhaitham and the tension surrounding their fallout.
