Summary
Chloe was done with humanity's shit far before the Thespidae ever came into the picture. After the dust had settled, and the treaty between humans and their alien neighbors was signed, a publicity campaign followed in full-force. Rumors spread.
They're over 12 feet tall! They've got razor sharp mandibles... We're being farmed for food, or worse! Despite the initial pushback, the foreign creatures were allowed, proclaiming a new life for anyone who wanted into Thespidae space. 'Leave your troubles behind' nearly became a slogan. They meant it. No more worrying over rent, food or water. A reliable support system, at the cost of simply existing? For the average citizen, it seemed too good to be true.
Even when the UN certified that they harbored a safe travelling space, people tore down their displays, going so far as to vandalize automated pamphlet dispensers with a clear message: 'Thespidae aren't welcome'. Even those less radical were skeptical, but Chloe was far too tired of living on Earth. The way she'd come to see things, living with aliens seemed like a far nicer alternative. So, the runaway packed her bags, saved up for a one-way trip into distant xeno space, and left without a word. She never looked back.

Maybe he was just as lost as the rest of the world.EDIT: I decided to change the ending of this story and add a few more scenes. I only edited the final paragraph, so I squeezed everything that's new into Chapter 2. I hope you guys like this, I'm much happier with it the way it is now.
