Summary
Ilya Rozanov has been drafted by Boston, the number one pick overall, but his father doesn't want him moving to America and so takes steps to block his visa. He's going to have to go back to Russia and stay there forever and that, thinks Shane Hollander, is wrong.
It's so wrong that Shane can't stop himself from doing something about it. Even though that something is the most reckless, the only reckless thing he's ever done in his life. He marries Rozanov in secret, to keep him out of Russia and put him on a path to Canadian citizenship.
Shane's got a five-year plan to get him there and when you have a plan nothing can go wrong. Right? Right. When you have a solid plan and a marriage that's on paper only there's no risk of feelings getting involved. Not on Rozanov's part and certainly not on Shane's.
Right???

Summary
Ilya ignored the request from the NHL twice. The first time they asked through his agent, the second time the director of marketing called his personal number directly. He never got along with the league as a player, and he certainly didn't need to make them happy now.
The next attempt to reach him was harder to ignore. A phone call from an unknown number. A voicemail that made his blood run cold.
"Hi Ilya. This is Rose Landry. We've never met, but Shane speaks so highly of you. I think the NHL has been trying to get in touch. Shane said you probably wouldn't talk to them. But...think about it, ok? I know it would mean a lot to him."
The final request crumbled his resolve. The caller ID blinked "Jane," and Ilya stared at it.

Summary
Ilya widens his eyes, moves his hands in an impatient “get on with it” motion. He has the urge to say it for him, end both their misery. Shane blinks rapidly a few times, takes another deep breath. “I want to stop,” he says simply.
Ilya lets out one humorless laugh, “Stop what?”
Shane ignores him. “At the All Star Game, I told you I liked you. And you said about Russia and your family. And I looked some things up. I get it. I get it better now. I know we can’t but I can’t stop wanting to be…more. Unless we stop.”

Shane just wants to be friends and Ilya is, like, fine with that or whatever

“Hollander,” Ilya says, “Did I tell you I meet nice woman?”
Shane locks eyes with Rozanov. “Oh yeah? Did she run away screaming?”
Ilya smirks. “Running? No. Screaming? Lots of it.” And then he fucking winks.
Later, Rozanov slams him into the boards. He stays pressed up against Shane for a moment too long, then speaks in a lowered voice.
“I didn’t tell you the best bit. Her name is Jane.”
Ilya starts dating a woman called Jane. This sets off a chaotic chain of events featuring jealousy, sexting, miscommunication and a whole lot of bad ideas.
