Summary
She’s protective of Shane, is the thing. It feels sometimes like she’s known both him and Hayden her whole life. Like she’s grown up with Shane as her little brother and Hayden as his best friend. Some whirlwind coming-of-age story locked away in the attic with all the other books from her childhood she’ll show to the kids when they’re older. She thinks maybe she was too lonely growing up – thinks, sometimes, it’s why she was so happy when the twins were born, her Ruby only had to spend twenty-three minutes alone in this world. She thinks Shane was lonely, too. So, she’s filled the void with a hockey player as she is wont to do, and he’s filled that same void with her. She’s protective, is the point.
So, when she unfolds the slip of paper and sees a string of digits and the name Lily, she knows exactly what she’s holding.

Scott doesn’t know what to make of Rozanov still. He’d appreciated him showing up at that bar in Vegas, had curiously watchedhim dance with men with all the air of someone who knew what he was doing, had shaken off the weirdness of watching Ilya Rozanov in a gay bar in Vegas pull another man in by the belt loops and ghost a breath over his ear. He thinks Rozanov went home alone that night. He’s not sure. He doesn’t know which answer would surprise him more.

Summary
It shows up on an unassuming morning, bright and glittering in the centre of town. Purple swirls in a pitch-black frame, dancing in the sunlight like nothing Mumbo’s ever seen before. When he looks out his window, he can see it.
He goes to work like he normally would, though the takes a wide berth around it, following the throws of people also straying from their usual paths right across the market square. The café he gets his breakfast at is emptier than usual, and he has a sneaking suspicion that some Grimm fae have decided to avoid the square altogether.
Mumbo can’t, though, since he works here.

Summary
A short walk away, back in the castle, an exhausted owl collapses on Emperor Consort Smajor’s desk, worn out from the fastest flight of its life.
Attached to its foot is a short letter – more of a note, really, scribbled on a scrap of paper. The edges are singed slightly in spots. It’s tied to the owl with a strip of fabric that looks like it was cut from someone’s robes, rather than a piece of string.
The message itself is short, only four words.
“Snow owl. Cuckoo’s nest.”
The paper reads. It’s meant for Scott’s eyes and nobody else’s. Martyn finds it instead.

Summary
Scott bows before his parents as he enters the room, barely managing to suppress the hand that wants to reach up and fix his hair further. There’s still some purple hair clinging to him from where he’d fixed Xornoth’s hair in the hallway. He knows his mother will be mad at him for it.
Next to him, Xornoth also dips into a bow. They’re angry, of course, as they always are, and Scott prays to Aeor that his brother’s anger won’t boil over today.
He can’t remember the last time he heard his father speak.

The Cracksiverse is an Empires season 1 canon divergence AU that includes a bunch of the life series cast. It follows Scott - prince of Rivendell - as he navigates his new arranged marriage to the Codfather. Along the way he runs into a long-lost ex and a host of other problems.
Arc 1 complete! Probably on a short hiatus while I catch up on college <3
