Slowly, she made sense of what she was looking at. The sight made her want to cry and strangle whoever was responsible. It was not a pile of rags at her feet, soaking up the rain water in a puddle, but the broken and bloody body of a man, barely drawing breath through a throat that gurgled with each wretched gasp. His one remaining arm reached out to her, pleading.
