Summary
Two ends of the same moral rope: her restlessness, her distrust; his methodical self-interest, his disinterest in anything he couldn’t control.
Both drifting along in the same borderless current.
She regarded him as a businessman in the unflattering sense: immaculate, opaque, his hands never demonstrably dirty.
He regarded her as the kind of woman whose ennui had become its own full-time occupation.
Neither was plotting against the other—a point that would, if they ever spoke of it, require no qualifiers.
What starts as a fragile truce in neutral ground turns into something stranger: a rhythm of coming and going and a no-strings-attached arrangement neither of them admits they want to keep.

Summary
The outskirts of the city were perfect for a joyride, a stretch of long, empty roads that cut through dense patches of forest and farmland. Claire let the Ducati loose, the wind tearing at her hair and the sun warm on her back. She felt free in a way she hadn’t in a long time, her worries left behind like so much exhaust in her wake.
What she didn’t know—what she couldn’t have known—was that Captain Albert Wesker was sitting in a patrol car just a few miles away, tapping his fingers on the steering wheel and silently cursing Chief Irons for assigning him to the outskirts.
A slow-burn about control, coincidence, and the delicate unraveling of two lives that were never meant to intersect.

Summary
In the months that followed, I would see far more terrible things. I would make worse choices, speak colder truths, build walls so high I could no longer hear myself inside them. But I would remember that room—her bare foot brushing the edge of a photograph, the lace slipping off her shoulder, the way she never asked the obvious questions, only the real ones.
And I would think, absurdly, irreparably:
I should have let the silence keep me.
A series of stolen moments: quiet, reckless, impossibly tender.
She was everything he shouldn’t have wanted. He was everything she should’ve known better than to need. But they kept finding each other anyway.Bookmarked by KaijuKween

Summary
His stomach dropped to his feet at the sight of Zelda restrained once more, this time with a knife against her delicate neck.
He couldn't run. He couldn't leave her behind.
Link's knife clattered against the floor of the cave as he dropped it, followed quickly by the sound of his belt hitting cold stone.
"[I'm sorry,] aithed."
