Summary
"You think Tommy was into me?"
Buck can't meet Eddie's eyes. "I mean, sure... why not? You're, you know, you."
Eddie is watching him. Like watching, watching him, and Buck's so sure he's seeing something - something that Buck isn't sure if he, himself, has seen yet. "Well," he's too playful, too loose, "we could always test that theory."
Buck's entire existence sours. "Okay, friendship is fine, but I draw the line at you, what, leading on my ex?"
Eddie laughs, blistering bright, and rolls his eyes. "Not what I meant..."
"So what did you mean?" Buck says through a laugh that spikes and splints like cracks through the syllables.
Eddie's grin tilts up at the same moment his head tilts down.
-
Buck is handling his breakup poorly - funnily enough, so is Eddie.

Summary
“You didn’t tell me your agent’s name was Dick,” Eddie says, halfway to a laugh.
Buck tries to force a smile onto his face, but it won’t come. “Yeah, he didn’t mention that before. Apparently, that was info he only wanted to share with you.”
“Oh, weird,” Eddie says, like it’s not worth thinking about. “Still funny, though.”
“Hilarious,” Buck says as he pulls into the street and Eddie types in the next address.
OR
The problem isn't that Buck's real estate agent is into Eddie or that Eddie seems to like it; it's a matter of professionalism.

Summary
Eddie realized dimly that his hand was still lifted, phone pressed to his ear, the call still live – Buck’s voice spilling through the speaker, thin and panicked and far too loud:
“…Eddie, what is happening? Talk to me. Eddie.”
He should have kissed him before leaving the house, Eddie thought, as his knees gave out.
He should have kissed him more, period. Every chance he got. In the kitchen, from behind, hands wrapped around his waist. On the couch, during the quiet lull of a movie neither of them was watching. In the parking lot before a shift, just because he could. In the locker room as the bells went off – a good luck charm tucked just out of sight.
He should have stopped acting like there’d always be another time.
Or,
Eddie refuses to talk about his feelings until the universe literally shoots him about it.

Summary
Buck is a giant pain in Eddie’s ass. He struts around the gym like he owns the fucking place (Eddie’s pretty sure that his name is on the business license and mortgage, not Buck’s), takes obnoxious selfies after every set he does with the weights, and has these cheap shitty earphones that blast his music loud enough for everyone around him to hear. Eddie had to threaten to ban him to get him to stop filming his workouts and write a new policy banning live streaming within the gym when Buck fought him on it.
or
The one where Eddie owns a gym, is a petty bitch, Buck is a brat, and they find a way to work it out.

Summary
Buck wouldn’t say this year has been his favorite one he’s lived through.
It’s certainly up there with Maddie moving out and away after getting married to Doug, leaving Buck lonely and bruised in a house where no one saw him. With those few months where he got his leg crushed, went on blood thinners, sued his family, got caught in that tsunami, and then lost Chris in said tsunami, back to back to back.
One year has passed since Bobby… since Bobby didn’t make it out of that call at the lab. One year of heartache and horrors for his favorite people and for himself.
He really thought that maybe, just maybe, things might start to look up for them after a year. Maybe this next year will not be another worst to add to the list.
But here he is, screaming while being held back by his team— his family, as he watches the stupid, stupid truck that Eddie insists is the best on the market, erupt in another round of flames.
