Summary
Dumpster diving isn’t normally a past-time of yours, but after a fall like the one you just sustained, you find yourself hard-pressed to move on too quickly. Investigating the trash heap closest to you, you can see a mailbox, a stuffed animal, a soggy cardboard box, and an old gaming console. Wedged among these, a faint light glinting off its screen, is an old CRT TV.
You decide to get a closer look.

He couldn’t very well slack off and stand to the side. For one, the thin wood floorboards did little to muffle the pulsing music down below. He might as well brave the brunt of it himself. Keeping his distance would serve only to limit his knowledge of the goings-on downstairs, and he already knew he wouldn’t be able to stand not knowing.
Therefore, the Captain decided that he himself would handle surveillance. It was good form for a Captain to join his men on the field, even if the field in question was a bustling sitting room full of alcoholics and perverts. The least he could do was keep an eye on things and step in only if absolutely necessary.
And so it was that he found himself pressed up against a wall in the beating heart of the celebration, squinting through the purple mood lighting and resisting the urge to cover his ears.

Summary
Conversation-making meant putting people at ease, and he knew a decade of isolation hadn’t helped his already stagnant reputation and abysmal social skills. He might be an actor, but he could read the room; he knew when an audience wanted him off the stage.
So without telling anyone, he left. He stuck close to the wall, weaving around near-strangers with a practiced ease until he no longer had to, and slipped up the stairs.
Balancing a bowl of buñuelos and a bottle of vino, he retreated back to his room.

The Madrigals throw one of their infamous parties, and Bruno gets overwhelmed. He goes back to his room with the intent to isolate himself (and put on a telenovela with his rats), but his sisters have other plans.
