Summary
It's a standard day in the Redfort/Crew/Finch household: Ruby is feigning domesticity, Clancy is just ruining all her attempts, and Elliot is completely oblivious to what Ruby might be doing in all of her spare time. An unexpected message has Ruby on her way to Spectrum; ie. nothing has changed, and life's not too bad.

Summary

It's 1978. Ruby, Clancy, and the rest of their year have just graduated Twinford High. Ambassador Crew has thrown a graduation party at their house - there's few perks to being the Ambassador's only son, but this is definitely one of them - and Clancy is determined that it will be a night to remember.
But then Ruby randomly says she loves him. And that doesn't make sense - at least, not to him. Love is for people you love, right? Not your best friend of who knows how many years?
So Ruby and Clancy have a long conversation on the balcony about friendship, platonic love, and the people that matter the most. And decide that maybe it's time they move in together.Yet more excuses for me to explore how well these two work together, and the fact that nobody is going to complete Clancy Crew like Ruby Redfort ever - romance sure is great, but there's nobody else like her. Also an ABBA title because you can't write fics set in the 70s without them.

Sixteen year old Ruby and Clancy don't quite fit up the tree on Amster Green anymore, but they still sit there to talk about anything and everything all the same. Ruby finds herself musing on everyone else's sudden apparent interest in the opposite sex, and the fact that her life doesn't seem to be heading in that direction. A house with Clancy would suit her far better than with any of the guys and girls of Twinford, anyway. Clancy may not entirely understand, but he's always there to lend a sympathetic ear and remind her that they're still young anyway. Adulthood is a long way off, and who cares what comes next when you have your friends with you right now?
Just an excuse for me to ramble about platonic connections and the aromantic disconnect from your peers via Ruby Redfort, because if there's anyone that gives me aroace vibes, it's our favourite teen secret agent.
