Summary
The original story, which I wrote over a decade ago, was a standalone, prompted by a dissatisfaction with how Éomer's banishment was handled in the movies (yes, I know that his banishment was, indeed AU)... One day, I had that image of the son of Èomund before my inner eye, standing in the snow while being surrounded by an éored, unsure how they would react. I thought I could maybe fill 30 pages with that idea... in the end, the story became a monster of 80 chapters and won the 2008 MEFA Awards "Alternate Universe - General".
However, since I just finished a prequel to it (A Red Sun Rises), I am currently rewriting all chapters to merge the two stories, with a little bit more emphasis on the minor characters and OCs, which I have grown fond of in the course of the previous story.
