“Thank the flames,” he sighs, coming to a stop before him. “Are you all right?”
Cid stares past him at first, and then directly at Clive. His voice cracks with awe. “You… you killed him with one attack.”
Ah… right. Clive shrugs, a little embarrassed, but also strangely pleased. Surprising Cid had always brought him a strange sense of joy in his time… perhaps it makes sense that this is ultimately no different. “That's just…”
His voice trails off as his eyes wander… and happen to notice Cid’s, uh, excitement.

Or, after his battle with Ultima, Clive wakes up on the same beach he lay down to die on... 31 years in the past, where he meets a younger Cid who's recently awoken his Eikon.

Summary
Valisthea is dying.
While kings and countries vie for dwindling resources, the Bearers who make up a small portion of the population live and die by the whims of their owners. Clive, a Bearer slave born in Rosaria, couldn’t care less about the political machinations happening around him: the fall of his home country, the political alliances of Dominants, or the wars between nations. He cares about one thing – the freedom network known as the Road which aims to save as many Bearers as possible.
Unfortunately, it’s never that simple.
Or, Clive is born a Bearer. This changes some things and doesn’t change others.
Afterall, Ultima is still out there waiting on their Mythos.

Summary
The kingdoms of Storm had many torrid secrets: the true nature of Dominants was chief among them. A long-held secret from the general populace was that, more often than not, the blessing of the Eikons was also a curse.
Power was drawn to power. Embodying that power had untold changes one the vessel's form. That form had untold political ramifications, long since weaponized by Storm's ever-warring factions. Split into Alphas and omegas, the Dominants had long been key to the tenuous peace between these kingdoms and empires.
Such things went over Clive's head. The rules of Dominants did not apply to him, after all.
Or did they?
