They're powerful beings who have been given control over the night and the rain it contains.
Each one came to the night in some way; some by curiosity, others by desperation, one looking past its darkness to find some semblance of solace in serving a new God, and another finding its devastation to be absolute. Few wish to quell the night, and one even seeks to kill the night itself.
Yet there was one, or perhaps three, who saw the night once as a threat, but now as a warm comfort.
