He holds his cards close, as though creating a second wall of discretion. Nagant doesn’t blink—she just studies him with this kind of bemusement.
“Would you like to run that by me again?” She asks wryly. “You have a crush on your—?”
“Yes.” Keigo rubs his temples, exhausted by a realization that’s haunted him for weeks now. Red creeps across his cheeks.
“Your pardoned war criminal boyfriend,” she continues, “of two months? Or your pardoned war criminal unofficial boyfriend of seven months who you were sleeping with?”
There’s a disruptive cough from a nearby guard, but they’re under heavy NDAs, which means Keigo can just watch them die a little inside while being unable to gossip about them.
“They’re the same person,” Keigo retorts tiredly.
“I know,” she says. “I just wanted to make sure you were aware as well.”
