Izuku mocked his words, repeating them back as he stood up and grumbled, “Shut up.”

“Shut the fuck up!” Izuku screamed. His body stumbled sideways. His shoulder caught on the wall and kept him upright as he focused on keeping his breathing stable. “You can have that damn quirk. You can have it…have it- and…” He took another few breaths and pushed up until he was standing, finally. “You can fucking die with it.”

OR: Izuku is kidnapped by AFO and tortured. It leaves him missing more than just OFA, but also a large part of himself and pieces of his body. Getting back to 'normal' will be a struggle, but he's got support, right?

A great many stories end in bloodshed.
Izuku knew, better than most, that some stories begin in blood, too. Izuku had learned from a very young age that blood was simply a part of his life, that pain was a companion, and the threat of death was a warm blanket to wrap him up at night. When they told him he wouldn’t be, couldn’t be, a hero, he looked them all dead in the eye and smiled with cracked, bloody teeth. When he was told, on countless occasions, to give up, to quit, to throw in the towel, Izuku instead worked harder. He beat his own knuckles into a concrete wall to toughen them. He smashed his shins on tree trunks to harden them.
Izuku did not take no for an answer.

Humility? Is that what this was truly about? Izuku wasn’t so sure. In his mind, this felt more like a way to weed out the students that, like Endeavor, had come here looking for power and glory. A few months ago, Izuku might have thought Katsuki was one of those people. Now, he wasn’t sure what this quirk would reveal.
What would it show for Izuku?

“Ah! What a wonder that quirk of yours is. I’m surprised you’re not a surgeon by now.”
“Well, it doesn’t work like that, Obasan.” Besides, his hands shook too much for that line of work. “But thank you for the compliment. Now, off you go to the check-out station, you’re all set. Have fun at Mahjong.”
She pushed up onto her tip toes and kissed his cheek with a soft arm pat. “You’re such a good young man.”
“Don’t come back too soon.”
“Oh, I can dream.”
