Summary
They've been at college for an entire semester, and Shauna is really fucking sick of the Jackie-Jeff rollercoaster. So, when Jeff dumps Jackie right before winter break, Shauna decides she's willing to do pretty much anything to keep them broken up. Jackie just wants to feel wanted, so what harm can a few messages from a new account really do?
Meanwhile, Jackie is trying to figure out how to keep her biggest secret under wraps, now that Jeff has royally fucked her over and totally blown her cover. She'd just wanted one year out of the house, before having to worry about what not having a boyfriend meant for her.

Jackie snatches up the magazine and stares at it with bulging eyes. Nope, she thinks. This doesn’t mean anything. It’s only a date. Months and numbers stop mattering when you’re surrounded by indeterminate miles of pure, utter nothingness, so this month and number don’t matter to her one bit. Not anymore. She’s expired. She’s gone.

This has been happening a lot. Little four-year-old Jack Shipman refusing to call his actual father dad while willingly calling Jackie mama and even sometimes dad. Jackie didn't seem to mind, even sometimes letting Jack call her dad. Shauna found it absolutely ridiculous but also... somehow endearing?
