The hum of the neon light in the bathroom is covered by the buzz of the hair trimmer. He turns it off, then on again. Will it hold up all the way, this cheap thing he bought at the first Walmart he saw? I hope so, he says to himself, or I'll look like an idiot. He takes another swig of gin, straight from the bottle; the curious look on the liquor store employee's face comes back to mind. I must really look a mess. Of course he looks a mess. He doesn't even know who he is anymore.
