Summary
Alex isn’t sure how he ended up here, in his dream job, having to work alongside someone he despised and who hated him just as much. Growing up, he’d always been the most popular person in school; the lacrosse captain, the valedictorian, the prom king. Charismatic, confident and always able to charm the pants off everyone he encountered. His teachers and professors all loved him, and his classmates all wanted to be his friend (and some just plain wanted him, which suited him just fine, thank you very much). People seemed to love to be around him; he was never lacking for company.
But at this job, in this stuffy office full of total go-getters, his impeccable charm still seemed to work on almost everyone. Just not Henry. Henry’s never given him the time of day, no matter how hard he tried to win him over. It’s absolutely unnerving.

Summary
Alex supposes this is his own fault.
He’s had months to say something. Months to stop being a coward and change their circumstances—even if it meant letting go of the idea of what they could be if Henry doesn’t feel the same. Though, the idea of that is probably what’s kept him silent. No longer falling into bed with Henry, his skin beneath Alex’s fingertips, his lips; heart to heart as they lie in the aftermath.
He’d been under the—wrong—presumption that losing Henry entirely is the worst case scenario.

June giggles and glances at Nora, hands over her mouth. “Oh nothing,” Nora says airily, “I just heard that a certain Prince is here, thought you should know…”
Something flickers inside of him. He blinks away the fog of the alcohol and straightens up, his head immediately turning to survey the room. “Where?”
Nora breaks into a shit-eating grin, flashing her pearly whites at him. “Why do you ask, babe? Wanna go link up with your bestie?” she trails backwards, pulling June and Alex after her into the next room over.
“Funny,” Alex tells her, “Real funny. Now where is he? Because I want to be five hundred yards away from there.”
He stops short as their expressions morph into something far off and dazed. June’s mouth pops open and Nora’s eyes widen. “Guys…”
“Be our guest, little buddy,” Nora butts in gleefully, “I’m fine rightttt here.”
“Oh my,” June covers her mouth, eyes filling with mirth. “This is… exquisite.”

Summary
After six years of attending Camp Olympia and three years of counseling, Alex felt like nothing could go wrong this year. He had already seen every plague that could hit the camp: the flu, lice, chicken pox, and the toxic gossip train that he may or may not have been a part of in his third year. As long as none of those happened again, this year would be fine.
