Finally, laughter, “C’mon man, it aint that serious!” He said between giggles, “Some other dude wussed out on me and I know you would looove to come finish what he started.”
For some reason, Zanka felt hurt by that. It was a dumb thing to be hung up on, but it made him wonder…
“So, you’ve just been fuckin’ with me cuz you were bored, huh?” He asked, keeping his voice even.
“You make it sound like we're a thing man, it aint that deep.” Zanka could practically hear him rolling his eyes, “You love beating me senseless and I love when you do! We got a good thing going, don’t make it all weird.”
Zanka was silent for a moment, feeling something dark and angry in his chest. How could he have been so stupid? Of course it was just a game for that asshole! He should’ve seen it coming, there was no way he was interesting enough for Jabber. He would always be second best.

Summary
It wasn’t supposed to be a problem. Zanka should’ve gotten away that first time and just forgotten what had happened. There should’ve been no lingering feelings other than anger at letting Jabber get under his skin again. He should’ve been able to get back to base and ignore all the embarrassing details by the next morning.
Unfortunately, Zanka was never all that good at doing what he was supposed to.
Not when it came to Jabber.

Summary
Hexes are normally just aggravating and inconvenient. They have to be actually removed, unlike jinxes, but that's not usually too big of a hurdle.
Of course Zanka has to be the exception, though. Of course he's the one that's hit with a hex that needs a goddamn specialist to be removed. And of course every witch in the goddamn city is either the wrong kind of specialist or plainly incompetent. Anything else would be too easy.
He probably could've tried a bit harder to find one before turning to an old acquaintance of Fuu's though. No matter how skilled the guy is supposed to be.
