“What was I supposed to tell my parents? ‘Hey, this is my boyfriend, and I’m super excited to bring him around over Christmas, but we need separate rooms to sleep in.’ They’re supposed to believe that we’re like, grossly in love, or whatever.”
Or: Shane needs a fake date to the Hollander family's Christmas celebrations to get his parents off his back about his love life. Ilya fucking Rozanov is very likely the worst possible person to play Shane's fake boyfriend. Except, Ilya is kind of convincing...

“Should call you the Ottawa Puppies,” says the Toronto centre, Svensson. As an insult it makes no sense, so Ilya ignores it, until he continues, “Hear Hollander keeps you on a short leash.”
Ilya is the captain, so if anything, he should be holding the leash. In English, you can be singular or plural, but he knows what Svensson is trying to say. He is saying Ilya Rozanov, you are Hollander’s bitch.
“Only sometimes,” Ilya replies, grinning. He wins the face off.
OR: Ilya trains himself to be a very, very good guard dog for Shane.

"You don't see the problem," Buck says finally, in as measured a tone as he can, "with getting married to me. For tax purposes."
"Not just tax purposes," Eddie says indignantly, like that's Buck's main sticking point. Buck finally turns his head and looks at him. Still stupid. Still beautiful, in a light-colored Henley that makes his skin glow, his long fingers curled around the neck of the beer bottle resting on his knee. His big brown eyes and the encouraging little smile on his lips, like he's offering Buck a special treat, instead of a lifelong fucking commitment of platonic marriage. Buck wants to kiss him, or maybe strangle him. Either one would serve Eddie right.
Or: Eddie proposes marriage (platonically). Buck spirals.
