“It’s jambalaya,” he said, as if that explained everything. “You can’t be mad at jambalaya.”
Charlie finally looked up at him. Her eyes were red. “I’m not mad at the food, Alastor. I’m mad at you. You killed a guy.”
He just stood there, looking a little confused “It was Valentino?”
“That doesn’t matter!”
“Your third redemption lesson says ‘Context matters’!”
“You listened to my lessons?”
“Je ne parle pas Anglais.”
“You so do parle Anglais!”

With careful hands, Charlie piled wood, sticks, and paper, then lit the pile with a snap of her fingers.
"Oh. I was... I was cleaning that," Niffty told her, holding up her ash-covered hands and forearms to show them to Charlie.
"Yeah, but I wanted to light a fire!"
"That's it!" Alastor snapped suddenly, standing from his armchair and slamming his book down on the end table. Everyone's eyes snapped to him as he declared, "All-Hotel meeting, now!"
