He’s lucky he still has the strength to imagine pinning Isagi to the bed, hips going slack as he relinquishes control—but only barely. Most of him is still trying to process the fact that Isagi is in front of him at all.
“I’m not sick,” he sniffles.
“Try again.”

Summary
Shikamaru had seen the promotion coming. He didn't want it but he couldn't say no. He didn't know the guy promoted with him, Uzumaki Naruto. He had never seen him in the village, to be exact. That was weird. They were the same age, they should have been classmates at the Academy. Unless... his teammates weren't his teammates, more like bodyguards. But why? Being the Hokage's son hardly was reason enough (Asuma had never had bodyguards). Could there be something else? Not that Shikamaru cared. He didn't. Nope. He had other problems to deal with. He didn't need that guy in his life. He really didn't. Until he did.

Summary
It is doubtlessly true that Shikamaru Nara is excessively lazy. However, it is also true that he is extremely devoted to those who have earned it.
Despite knowing this fact, it's not until he's managed to land himself in the middle of leading the reconstruction of their city that Shikamaru realizes just what lengths he's willing to go for Naruto's heart.
But exhausting as it is, he finds he doesn't mind— especially if it lets him finally find the strength he needs confess his feelings for the other man.
Aka: Shikamaru finds his motivation, and it's shaped a lot like a certain jinchūriki.
