Summary
Often in his darkest hour, Peter wished for Iron Man to come make things right. When Iron Man is pronounced dead, killed by an explosion created by a mad scientist, a small candle of hope is snuffed out inside of Peter. Then, and only then, Peter realizes that he has to take matters into his own hands. That there is no hero coming to save him. That is the day he decides to be the hero he so desperately needed.
Peter becomes Spiderman.
Hero work isn’t easy. Especially for Peter, who has a decade of trauma to carry and has no money in his pockets. As always, though, Peter makes it work. When it gets hard, Peter runs away. He sleeps under the open sky and eats food offered by kind volunteers. Then Peter returns. He always does.
Then one day, Peter finds a man lying in a ditch in his own blood. When he wakes, he gives an obviously fake name and freaks out when told to go to the city shelter and doesn’t know what month of the year it is. Oh, and he’s a genius mechanic. Everything about him is shady, and Dan, a good friend on the streets, wants nothing to do with him.
Naturally, Peter helps the man.
