“I received a letter a week ago,” Barok starts, voice purposely low so the detective doesn’t catch on it, “From Mr. Naruhodo.”
Iris gasps happily, softly clapping her hands together.
“Oh, how wonderful! What did he say?”
Barok presses his lips into a thin line. That he misses me, is the first thing that comes to mind, but he doesn’t say that. It feels like he shouldn’t, like those words he read in Naruhodo’s letter aren’t something meant to be said aloud.

Summary
A dragon was terrorizing a city. This was pretty open and shut, as far as Kari was concerned.
Oh sure, there were... details. Things other people might have called "complications." The dragon was terrorizing the city by declaring itself King, but look. You couldn't believe everything that decided it was going to be a King. Honestly. Anyone could just up and say they were a King, that didn't make it true. Word had that he'd eaten the previous King, and that was not how systems of government were supposed to work. You couldn't just go around eating Kings to prove your right to rule. Kari wasn't having any of it.
So, as a Hero, he was obviously going to have to go and slay the dragon. That was how these sorts of things worked.

Aerith took all the crazy homicidal darkness out of Sephiroth and hugged it to death. And then she didn't really know what to do with him, so she shoved him back to life and told him to do better this time.
Which, of course, means he gets to wake up wet, alone, naked, somewhere, with sand in places that he would prefer sand not to be.
