She hooked her legs around the arms of Vi’s chair and pulled it closer, leaning in close to Vi’s face. She was so close Vi could smell her, all gunpowder and metal and sweat and their childhood.
“You didn’t mean to…” Powder said, feigning that she was deep in thought before glaring straight down at Vi. “But you did. That’s why this time, I won’t let you leave again.”

It was one thing, to be missing Powder from miles and miles away, it was another to stand right across from her and still feel just as distant.
Powder had been frozen for so long in her memory, lodged in the time bubble Vi had set for her, still, happy, and perfect. It had been easy to keep her that way. It was easy to pretend that her sister was still sitting on the floor, toying with her tools and waiting for Vi to come home.
But reality was very different.
Powder hadn't stayed still and waited happily on the floor of their room. Powder had gotten angry, and hurt, she had cried, and ran into the night, and she had met people, and done things. She had grown up.
And Vi had missed it.

As she got closer, Vi could see the familiar silhouette of a lithe body on the floor, smoke still faintly radiating from it. Vi could feel her heartbeat speed up in her eardrums, ringing in her ears showing up unannounced. Icy dread growing stronger in her gut like the chill on her back.
And then she saw it, blue hair. Body limp on the ground, blood slowly pooling on the floor.
(Or; a story about Vi going back to Jinx after the explosion on the bridge. Having to take care of her as Jinx slowly needs to recover from her wounds. Both of them are stuck with each other as Vi refuses to abandon Powder again.)
