Summary
Lady Sloane Mairi never entered the Quadrant or bonded a dragon. Instead, she’s spent the last decade exasperating her aristocratic guardians, who expect her to do little besides mind her manners, smile pretty, and marry well. So when a politically-advantageous betrothal is finally secured, Sloane figures an arranged marriage will at least grant her some autonomy. After all, how hard is it to handle a husband? As it turns out, pretty damn hard, because the broad shoulders waiting at the end of the aisle belong to Colonel Dain Aetos, a jaded officer who gave everything to the war effort...and is decidedly Not Amused to find himself bringing home a tempestuous heiress.
Bound by law for the next four months, the couple merely has to endure their handfasting and they are free to part ways. But past wounds want healing, unexpected bonds demand forging, and blistering chemistry promises to set their plans aflame.
****
(Or, the arranged marriage, post-war, grumpy-gremlin AU in which Sloane is the feisty aristocrat who never went to Basgiath and Dain is the decorated war hero who is barely holding it together)

Summary
A collection of moments before and after the infamous “eyes here” scene between Sloane Mairi and Dain Aetos.
Sloane Mairi never expected to survive Basgiath after her brother’s death, sometimes, she still isn’t sure she wants to. Once, she dreamed of reuniting with him here. Instead, all she finds is Dain Aetos.
Dain lectures. He orders. He interferes.
He saves her, too.
But Sloane knows better: he’s no protector.
He’s part of the reason Liam is gone.Dain Aetos’s world is coming undone. The values he’s lived by… order, control, obedience, no longer hold. And somehow, Sloane is always there, challenging him, unraveling him, pushing him to the edge.
He’s trying to make amends.
She’s determined to never forgive him.
What’s left between them is a tangle of guilt, grief, and something that feels dangerously close to forgiveness.Bookmarked by Leygal
