Summary
As an empty shell, as a ghost, Gilbert Blythe was wandering in the woods of Avonlea. His body was there, but his soul still was lost in this bloody night of November of two years ago. How could he escape out of this jail?
Every time Gilbert was letting Toronto to return to the Prince Edward Island, his wax mask was melting and then, he felt like a lion chained onto a cage. He was not him anymore. Where was this young man serious and always calm but lovely and funny? His life always was complicated, harsh, he felt the smell of death too many times in his young life. However, the acceptation of his love for Anne Shirley-Cuthbert, a love which was reciprocated, was the best happening of his whole life. -

Summary
January 13, 1911, Charlottetown.
Gilbert Blythe, a 30-year-old medical examiner, and his police brother Sebastian Lacroix are assigned to investigate the murder of Anne Shirley, a famous theatre teacher and director of Canada's most prestigious art school. A disfigured and unidentifiable body has been found in the office of the young woman, adored and coveted by high society.Several people in Anne Shirley's entourage are suspected: Royal Gardener, her best friend, a journalist who helped her make a name for herself in high society; Charlie Sloane, her well-born but penniless and somewhat devoid of humanity fiancé. The officers can count on the help of Marilla Cuthbert and Susan Baker, the school's adoptive mother and housekeeper respectively.
Gilbert finds himself increasingly disturbed by the case, especially by the large portrait of Anne in her office, causing him to develop feelings, even an obsession, for this woman he knows only through a painting and the words of those who knew her.
But what if an unexpected outcome changed the course of the story? And who was actually Anne Shirley?

Anne and Gilbert had looked at each other with a mad, insane intensity, able of making even the most fragile souls turn their eyes, while they repeated the most unconventional wishes that existed on Earth.
The young man then took the ring in his palm, feeling a fireball in his veins. "Finally.” -he thought. - “Finally, I will put the ring on her finger so that it may rest there for this life and the next one."
"I, Gilbert John Blythe, do solemnly swear to you, Anne, to love and cherish you, to protect you and to accompany you along this path that life takes us on. I promise to be there for you in the twists and turns of life, as well as in the doubts, fears, and mistrusts, to be that voice that guides you when you get lost from weariness. Beyond writing our history, we will continue the fight, our fight, since your struggles are now anchored to my ankles. I will make you mine as much as you will make me yours, and I know that if it were up to me, our intertwined wings would shine like fireflies, for at least eternity.”
The mouths of the guests were wide open and the furrowed brows of some gave them an ungraceful look, but all this was the least of the worries of our two revolutionary brides.
